Lots of customers today choose to acquire products that are made from all-natural materials, have a relatively very little environmental impact, as well as consist of few (if any kind of) chemicals that are unsafe to human health. Mattress buyers are no different. The current mattress market includes a vast array of designs that are suitable for environmentally friendly customers– in addition to mattresses that are erroneously advertised as being ‘Best Organic Twin Mattress’.
While we are still developing a full blurb for this topic, please see a full breakdown of our favorite below.
Founded in 2015 as an environmentally friendly answer to the bed-in-a-box boom, Avocado has because grown into among the premier green companies in the sleep space. In addition to the brand name’s flagship mattress (which we’re having a look at today), the business likewise offers green pillows, mattress pad protectors, toppers, natural wood bedroom furnishings, a recently introduced structure and even an all-vegan mattress.
We won’t enter into any of these other items in this evaluation, but we will take a moment later on to size up the Avocado against some of its fiercest competitors in the video game, namely the Saatva and Zenhaven mattresses. But before we do any of that, we’ve got ta figure out what’s cooking beneath this absolutely organic cover!
Best Organic Twin Mattress – What Is It Made of?
The Avocado Green Mattress includes a simple, two-layer style of latex and filched coils. While there’s not a lot to the bed’s 11″ profile, the simplicity is meant to develop a structure that’s bouncy, tight, and ultra-supportive.
Need more details? I got you! Let’s take a look at this bed, layer by layer.
I need to note that the Green Mattress is available in both Standard and Pillowtop version, that includes an extra 2″ layer of latex up top for included comfort. For this evaluation I checked the Pillowtop.
Cover– Crafted with organic cotton and hand-tufted with GOTS organic certified wool from their co-owned wool cumulative. The cover is soft, breathable, and created to wick wetness away from the body.
Pillow Top– What I’m calling the pillow top layer is made up of GOLS organic accredited latex. This product has some fantastic bounce to it, so works to keep the sleeper placed more on top of the structure than in it. Buoyancy aside, latex is likewise understood for its cooling properties, which will assist to manage temperature levels throughout the night.
Assistance– The bulk of the mattress is comprised of this tall pocketed coil system. The separately wrapped coils here double down on the bounce of the mattress, bringing an enjoyable lift to the structure. Though swiped coil system are absolutely nothing brand-new, what’s unique about Avocado’s is that it’s broken down into “5 tactical zones,” which, according to the brand name, assistance to support the shoulders, hips, and lower back in different ways. We’ll check out firmness and pressure relief in a second, but for now I’ll simply say that this targeted support is very subtle, and likely will not jump out to you too much as you extend on the bed.
Thoughts: With just a single layer of latex standing between you and the thick section of pocketed coils, you’re most likely to experience this bed as rather bouncy and firm. Currently, I can inform this mattress is going to be best for combo sleepers with environmentally friendly sensibilities.

How Does the Avocado Mattress Feel?
After examining the Avocado’s material cosmetics, it’s time to see how these products impact its general feel, beginning with firmness.
As with any feel aspect, firmness is a subjective procedure that can alter a lot depending on one’s body size, shape, and weight. For that reason, it would be a bit deceptive to only report my firmness thoughts here, as my body is bound to differ from yours. To reduce this bias, I invited a few of my coworkers into the studio to evaluate this bad young boy out with me.
Ball game you see listed below is the average of all our individual firmness scores!
The Avocado has a supportive feel and medium firmness.
Though we landed on an average ranking of 6.6, our reactions were kind of all over the place with this one, varying as they did from a soft 6 to an ultra-firm 7.5. Considering the market standard of 6.5 for medium firmness, it seems this bed straddles that line in a pretty engaging way.
I personally provided the bed a 6 as I found its cover and latex comfort layer assisted to soften up the firmness of the taken coil system. For some of my coworkers, however, they were actually just able to experience the coils as they quickly pressed through the gentle convenience layer. Despite firmness, we were all in contract that the structure is very bouncy, which tells me this could be a good pick for combination sleepers, especially those who turn between their backs and sides in the night.
Unwinding on this Mattress.
I need to also note that if you enjoy the eco-friendly profile and bounce of the mattress, but certainly require something a little bit more plush, you can constantly choose to have an extra Avocado pillow top included onto the bed for $400.
The Best Organic Twin Mattress is Composed of 100% natural latex and filched coils, the Avocado is as eco-conscious as it is comfortable.
Checking out the Mattresses.
While I could keep describing my experience on the Avocado in words, I ‘d much rather show you what I’m talking about than just keep informing you about it. So, to that end, I’m going to walk you through a couple of my favorite tests for examining Pressure Relief and Motion Transfer.
Video: Best Organic Twin Mattress
When I consider pressure relief, I’m primarily worried about how well (or not well) the mattress in question has the ability to ease tension at delicate areas like the shoulders, hips, and lower back.
To figure all that out, I like to use a helpful dandy pressure map. I roll this child out, hop aboard, and let the gadget do the rest! As I walk around, the gadget tracks how my body’s interacting with the bed in real time, and creates a colored “map” to show the pressure it experiences. Areas of low pressure are demarcated in blue, and areas of high pressure are in red.

Back– Stretching out on my back, I felt some great pressure relief as the top layer of latex foam filled in the area at my lumbar region. In addition, I found it incredibly easy to walk around and change positions, which could be great for those uneasy sleepers in the lot.
Side– Though I felt some preliminary comfort on my side, the longer I stayed in this position, the more pressure I experienced. That’s not too surprising, as stringent side sleepers tend to apply a great deal of force on their shoulders and hips. However, it does tell me that this bed might be a bit too firm for those who just sleep in the lateral position. But, back/side combo sleepers should be simply great!

Stomach– Turning onto my stomach, I felt fine, not fantastic. I believed the pocketed coils would do more to raise my hips in line with my shoulders, but I was kind of disappointed to find that they instead sank out of alignment. This triggered some stress at my lower back, so if you are a stringent stomach sleeper looking at the Avocado I would choose the basic variation.
Checking out the Avocado with Pillow Top and Motion Transfer.
For my next test, I’m going to analyze the Avocado’s movement transfer, or the amount of motion noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. A crucial area for all sleepers, however particularly so for those who share their beds with a partner.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb. steel ball from heights of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it triggered: the larger the lines, the larger the disruption.

These are exceptionally high movement transfer results, so you’re likely to feel your bed mate’s every toss and turn. This isn’t too surprising thinking about how bouncy this bed is, however could be something for you to consider if you have an especially agitated partner.

Differentiation of Organic Mattress Companies
Now that we’ve got the Avocado practically well and arranged, let’s take a second to compare it to some of its most significant competitors: the Saatva and Zenhaven mattresses.
The Saatva is built with a timeless innerspring feel, so is a fair bit firmer than the Avocado.
Its coil-on-coil building is likewise very supportive and works to promote a healthy spinal alignment no matter the position.
All of this makes it a fantastic mattress for back sleepers searching for firm support and mobility.
It’s likewise cheaper than the Avocado, starting at $599.
Take a look at my full Saatva mattress review and see why it arrived at my guide to the Best Mattresses for Back Pain.
The Zenhaven is an all-latex mattress made by Saatva (not a bed-in-a-box).
It’s likewise flippable, with two various firmnesses folks can switch between by merely turning over the bed.
Because it’s developed entirely of natural latex, the bed is both incredibly bouncy and super cooling, which could be a great combo for anyone who gets too hot.
In terms of cost, it’s the most pricey of the 3, starting at $1,299.
